Behind the Rescue Ep. 2: Heavy-Duty Truck Tire Replacement Explained

A tire failure on a heavy-duty truck or dual-wheel commercial vehicle is a critical event that can disrupt supply chains and create severe safety hazards on the road. Unlike standard passenger cars, replacing a truck tire requires specialized equipment, technical expertise, and strict safety protocols.

In the second episode of our video series “Behind the Rescue”, the Operations Control Center Specialists at All Assistance guide you through the complete technical process of replacing a tire on a dual-wheel truck.

The Challenges of Heavy Vehicle Tire Service

Replacing a commercial truck tire on location is a highly technical task. Dual-wheel setups require precise dismounting and remounting techniques to ensure both the inner and outer wheels are properly aligned, seated, and torque-secured.

When a fleet operator or truck driver encounters a blowout, All Assistance coordinates a structured response:

  1. Emergency Call & Location Tracking: The driver contacts roadside assistance with exact vehicle specs and location details.

  2. Specialized Provider Dispatch: Our Control Center Specialists dispatch a mobile commercial tire rescue unit equipped with heavy-duty jacks, tire irons, lubricants, and impact wrenches.

  3. Safety Perimeter Setup: The technician establishes a safe work area before lifting the vehicle and beginning the service.

Step-by-Step Dual-Wheel Tire Replacement Protocol

In Behind the Rescue Episode 2, our specialists explain the precise sequence required to complete a damage-free replacement on a dual-wheel truck:

  • Outer and Inner Wheel Removal: The technician removes the lug nuts and takes off the outer wheel to gain direct access to the damaged inner wheel.

  • Dismounting the Old Tire: Using specialized tire lubricant and heavy-duty tire irons, the worn or damaged tire is carefully worked off the rim by releasing both tire beads.

  • Mounting the New Tire: The new commercial tire is positioned onto the rim, and both beads are gradually guided into place until fully seated.

  • Reinstallation & Torque Tightening: Both wheels are reinstalled onto the hub assembly, and the lug nuts are securely tightened using a pneumatic impact wrench to meet exact torque specifications.

Precision Coordination from the Operations Center

Behind every efficient heavy-duty rescue is a control room that understands the operational needs of commercial fleets. Our Operations Control Center Specialists ensure that the right service vehicle and correct replacement tires are dispatched immediately, minimizing costly downtime for drivers and logistics companies.
